Penny – The Dragon Princess

In November 2014, we entered uncharted territories when a very cute and extremely busy little Weimaraner girl joined our family – our very first dog! Despite all the behind-the-scenes trials and tribulations we went through, this little girl graduated from puppy school with flying colours and caught the eye of onlookers wherever she went. Encouraged by friends, we decided that it would be fun to enter her for the 2015 Bloemfontein show weekend. After one rather disastrous ringcraft training session the week before, Penny made her championship show debut at the age of 11 months. That weekend, she exceeded everyone's expectations with three CC awards and a Puppy Group placing. One month later, she had six CC awards from six shows! So we continued to show the little pet dragon whenever we had a weekend off. In September 2017, despite not being campaigned extensively, she became the first SA-Bred Weimaraner to qualify for Grand Champion status!

Named after the blue dragon, Saphira, from Chirstopher Paolini's book “Eragon”, Penny embodies all the wonderful qualities of her namesake: a perfect friend with loads of human-like character traits and of course a little touch of dragon magic. She is loyal, funny, brave, intelligent and noble but also fiercely independent and proud. In the show ring, she dazzles with her elegant movement and well-balanced proportions.
